A small way to make a big difference.
The Moreton Bay Foundation’s purpose is to protect and enhance the natural environment to enable future generations to live, work and play in Moreton Bay.
We do this through awareness, education, influence, research facilitation and direct action. Workplace giving is a simple and tax-effective way to donate and help protect Moreton Bay for future generations. The Moreton Bay Foundation Trust is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission (ACNC) and we have deductible gift recipient (DGR) status from the Australian Tax Office.
What is workplace giving?
Workplace giving is a joint relationship between employers, employees and charities. Individual employees contribute a small portion of their pre-tax salary to a charity of their choice and receive the tax benefit of their donation immediately, rather than waiting until the end of the financial year. There is no need to keep any records or receipts to claim a tax benefit at the end of the financial year.
The benefit of workplace giving!
Let’s say an employee decides to donate $10 per fortnight to The Moreton Bay Foundation directly from their pay. The difference to their take home pay will be an estimated $7 (exact amount relies on their personal ATO tax bracket), as the tax benefit has been applied immediately to the donation. However, The Moreton Bay Foundation will receive the full $10 donation.
What is matched giving?
Matched giving is when an employer decides to match donations made by its’ employees. In most cases employers will match donations to support causes their employees are passionate about. This greatly increases the impact of an employee’s donation to The Moreton Bay Foundation. For example, the value of a $10 donation, that only costs the employee an estimated $7 from their pre-tax pay, is doubled to $20 with a matched donation from the employer.
How to start workplace giving.
If an employer offers workplace giving, simply ask the Payroll Officer to establish support for The Moreton Bay Foundation. It is easy to add us as a charity partner at a workplace. Employees can complete an employers’ authority form to make payroll deductions, nominating The Moreton Bay Foundation as the chosen charity. If employers use the Good2Give platform, simply request the login details from the payroll officer and set up an employee donation online.
If an employer does not have a workplace giving program in place, they can consider partnering with one of these organisations to set up a workplace giving program:
These are not-for-profit organisations that provide the knowledge, administration, infrastructure and ongoing management of workplace giving programs for employers. Contact one of these organisations for more information.
An employer can also set up their own workplace giving program. To find out information on how to do this visit the Australian Tax Office website.
Contact us at admin@moretonbayfoundation.org to set up payroll deductions direct to us.
By supporting us, you will make a real impact on the international treasure that is Moreton Bay. Your generous workplace giving donations will help maintain environmental health, biological diversity, ecological sustainability and Indigenous heritage for current and future generations.
