The Moreton Bay Foundation (TMBF) wishes to acknowledge the significant pro-bono legal support it has received from KWM.
King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) is a leading international law firm headquartered in Asia with over 2,400 lawyers in 27 locations around the world.
As a firm, KWM sees it as their responsibility to apply their skills and resources to make a positive difference to the communities in which it lives, works and operates. KWM believes that giving pro bono advice to community organisations, non-profit organisations and to vulnerable and disadvantaged people is part of fulfilling its professional responsibility and helps to improve access to justice. KWM values this contribution by its lawyers and places an emphasis on KWM lawyers participating in pro bono work. KWM re-launched its pro-bono and community program in July 2018, undertook more than 30,000 hours of pro bono legal work and donated 19,000 community volunteering hours to the firm’s community partners.
For many years KWM staff (many of whom are fortunate to have grown up ‘by the bay’) have personally enjoyed and appreciated the natural riches of the Moreton Bay area, and acknowledged its indigenous culture and heritage. On this basis, KWM shares TMBF’s concerns in relation to the protection and preservation of the Moreton Bay area (as one of Australia’s many iconic natural jewels) and passion to promote its ecological sustainability for the benefit of future generations.
To help achieve this goal, members of the firm’s Brisbane Corporate M&A Team (Rhys Casey (Partner), Mitch Fairbairn (Senior Associate) and Josh McVey (Solicitor)) were glad to accept instructions from TMBF to assist in establishing The Moreton Bay Foundation Limited and The Moreton Bay Foundation Trust, and are looking forward to continuing to support TMBF in its activities and programs throughout the Moreton Bay area.
