Ian Tibbetts is Associate Professor at the the School of Biological Sciences, University of Queensland.
He is Director of the International Programs Office, which brings American students to Australia to study marine and terrestrial biology.
He has authored more than 100 scholarly journal articles, many of which feature Moreton Bay. He was lead editor on the book Moreton Bay and Catchment (1998) and the Foundation’s first publication, Moreton Bay Quandamooka & Catchment: Past, present, and future (2019).
He continues to supervise PhD and other research students in topics as diverse as fish biology, fisheries science, intertidal ecology and electroreception.
He has worked with industry donors to support the rebuilding of the Moreton Bay Research Station (2000) and continues to support philanthropic investment in marine science to benefit the Moreton Bay region.
He was appointed Chair of the Scientific Expert Panel advising the Minister for Fisheries on the sustainable fisheries strategy in 2018.
