Q. Question for (board director) Cameron. Is there a masterplan or vision for what tourism on straddie will look like 20 years from now?

A. QYAC has a strategy for sustainable tourism for Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) within its broader vision for the future of tourism on Quandamooka Country. You can view the five year strategy here: Tourism for a Glad Tomorrow.

The strategy places ecological and cultural sustainability as the primary requirement for tourism on Quandamooka country. This is essential because it is estimated that $3.8 million people visit the broader Moreton bay region annually – that’s more than the Great Barrier Reef! The current status of tourism in the region is covered in the Tourism in the Moreton Bay Region chapter of the book Moreton Bay Quandamooka and Catchment.
