TMBF’s submission on the Dohles Rocks Seawall Reconstruction supports necessary works to protect public assets, maintain safe access and manage coastal erosion along the Pine River foreshore. However, TMBF urges City of Moreton Bay to use this project as more than a replacement of damaged grey infrastructure. The submission calls for a hybrid, nature-based approach that integrates eco-engineering features such as textured surfaces, habitat panels and artificial rockpools, while consolidating access points in already disturbed areas. It also recommends improved stormwater treatment, water-sensitive urban design, baseline ecological assessment and post-construction monitoring. With these refinements, the Dohles Rocks project could become a practical model for coastal infrastructure that strengthens resilience while improving habitat, water quality and community amenity across Moreton Bay.
