TMBF has lodged a submission on the proposed Wellington Point boating facilities upgrade. While we support improvements to boating safety, accessibility and efficiency, we have significant concerns about the leading option, which would reclaim sensitive marine and intertidal habitat within the Moreton Bay Marine Park and adjacent to the internationally recognised Moreton Bay Ramsar Wetland.
Our submission calls for genuine lower-impact alternatives and a precautionary approach that prioritises avoiding ecological harm, protecting water quality and seagrass habitats, planning for climate resilience, and involving Traditional Owners in project design and decision-making.
